What if I don't like my placement?
We recommend that you give yourself a 8 week settling in period. This will allow you to see the nature of work expected of you and get a feel for your surroundings and colleagues. However, after this 8 week period if you feel there are issues which need resolving contact your representative who will be happy to discuss the situation with you and help resolve any problems or concerns you may have.
What if I decide I would like to change Occupational Areas?
If you feel you are not suited to the occupational area and would like to change, this can be arranged. After contacting your representative (as soon as the problem arises) and discussing the issues we will investigate into further suitable options.
What do I do if I can't attend one week?
If for any reason you cannot attend your work placement, it is compulsory that you contact a representative before 5pm on the evening before, if this is not possible, 8:30am on the morning of your placement.
Will I need any training or special equipment for my placement?
Your placement is an excellent opportunity for you to get out there and show a local employer what your made of. You will not require any pre-training before your placement starts. You will be trained by specialists in that area with relevant skills which will equip you for the world of work.
You will be set Individual Training Targets for you to work towards, which will be monitored and reviewed on a regular basis by your placement co-ordinator.
You do not need to provide any special health and safety equipment. These will be arranged for you. All that is required from you is to turn up on time with a positive approach. Do your best and enjoy!
