The Health and Safety Progression Award Level 2 is aimed at any student willing to put in the effort and commitment to complete the student logbook, the ideal platform for raising the student's awareness of health and safety.
The student logbook consists of 9 units, with each unit covering a different aspect of health and safety. For example: Unit 7 will cover fire, Unit 8 covers chemicals and hazardous substances. The logbook is designed to give students a solid ground-floor understanding of health and safety across all occupational areas.
On successful completion of the student logbook, students will then sit a 1 hour multiple choice written exam. The exam consists of 40 questions covering all aspects of the student logbook and will be externally marked by City & Guilds the Awarding Body. Students who achieve the required pass rate of 70% will be awarded the overall certificate of achievement by City & Guilds, which is also accepted as being a Grade B GCSE pass or 46 points.
For those students who did not manage to complete their logbook or failed to achieve the required exam pass rate, through illness or any other reason, unit accreditation is available. Certificates can be claimed for the units achieved, whether it is 9 units or just 1. Unit accreditation allows students to continue their studies at a later date to achieve the outstanding units and re-sit the exam and attain the overall award.
The City & Guilds 3681 Award: Health and Safety in the Workplace is an excellent opportunity to open the door into the vast area of health and safety, which encourages all future employers in whichever occupational area students may choose to enter.
